Evidence-Based Practices

According to the National Registry of Evidence-based Practices and Programs,  "evidence based" stands for approaches to prevention or treatment that are based in theory and have undergone scientific evaluation. "Evidence-based" stands in contrast to approaches that are based on tradition, convention, belief, or anecdotal evidence.
National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) is a searchable online registry of mental health and substance abuse interventions that has  been reviewed and rated by independent reviewers.

A Guide To Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) on The Web SAMHSA provides this Web Guide to assist the public with connections to Web sites that contain information about interventions to prevent and/or treat mental and substance use disorders. The guide can be used by stakeholders to promote awareness of current intervention research and to increase the implementation and availability of evidence-based practices (EBPs).
