SECONDHAND SMOKE
"The evidence is clear, there is no safe level of secondhand smoke", as concluded by
U.S Surgeon General Carmona in his report, The Health Consequences
of Involuntary Exposure to Tobacco Smoke.
Wyoming does not have a statewide smoke-free law that provides adequate protection against exposure to secondhand smoke in public places.Among adults who work indoors, the percentage who reported anyone smoking in their work area within the preceding two weeks has remained higher in Wyoming than in the nation overall. Currently, Wyoming ranks 49th among the states for workplace exposure, at 12.2%. Smoke-free home rules represent awareness of the dangers of secondhand smoke. In Wyoming, as in the nation, an increasing number of families have such a rule. Currently, 70.2% of Wyoming homes have this rule. Wyoming ranks 44th among the states.(CDC's Tobacco Control State Highlights 2010)
